According to a recent New York Times report, Bill and Melinda Gates visited Vietnam and personally encouraged its government to support HPV vaccination for the country's female population.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation owns more than $100 million in Merck stock. Merck is the manufacturer of the vaccine.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation does not currently support Pap screening in Vietnam.
